Started up in Pisa in the early ¡®90s, DTA s.r.l. is the very first Italian company that designs, produces and markets its own line of professional cooled CCD cameras, customized devices, software and digital image systems.
Located in Cascina (PISA), DTA developed the first commercially available high performance CCD (HCCD) digital camera in 1994 and continues to provide innovative imaging solutions for scientists, researchers and manufacturers, thus complying with the needs of well-known Research and University Centers as well as private companies, both in Italy and abroad in a lot of scientific fields.

| CHROMA series |
|
CHROMA series is characterized by high sensitivity, fast image downloading, reduced weight and dimensions. This includes the cameras: CHROMA CX 3, CHROMA C3 Plus and CHROMA C4 (just as PRELIMINARY).
All this kinds use Kodak KAF CCD sensors, displaying a wide range of resolutions and pixels dimensions. The sensors are front-illuminated, supported by an excellent Quantum Efficiency.
All of them (apart to those with the antiblooming option) can offer a 100% fill factor, allowing one to shoot marvellous images.
Among the main application fields: Biology, Astronomy, Plasma Physics, Semiconductor Physics. |

The CHROMA C3 Plus is an upgrade for the CHROMA CX 3: it has a better resolution due to 16 bit A/D Converter, a readout speed >= 1Mpixel/s and, more, it is equipped of three integrated peripherals:
1) two 32-bit generators able to yield impulses starting from 100 ns with internal time base, or from 20 ns with external time base;
2) a 32-bit time delay with a 100 ns step with an internal time base or 20 ns with external time base;
By means of these three devices, you can run an MCP, a LASER or other external devices, as well as synchronize them to the image acquisition.

The CHROMA C4 is the new generation of CHROMA camera series. It maintains the general characteristic of CHROMA C3, such as the 16 A/D Converter, the three integrated peripherals, with a pulse and time delay generator from 20 nanoseconds to 86 seconds, the mechanical dimensions, but more, it is characterized by:
- Readout speed >= 1 Mpixel/s
- 8-channel analog input (12 bits)
- 8-bit programmable (both for the input and for the output) parallel port
- Double-stage Peltier cooling system (perfoming -50‹ C below ambient)

|
HiRes series is a cooled digital cameras series born to detect extremely faint light emissions.
There are two versions: the standard HiRes IV and the upgraded model HiRes IV Plus, both of them made of two main components: the head (with CCD sensor, Double stage Peltier cooling system, electronics) and the controller, that includes the power supply.
This series displays KODAK and E2V Technologies sensors, either marked by high definition (small pixels : <= 16 mm) or high sensitivity (bigger pixels : >= 20 mm). They belong to the front-illuminated kind, with thin indium electrodes able to raise the Quantum Efficiency in the case of shorter wavelengths, or to the back-illuminated type to make the most of the latest CCD technology.
Among the main application fields : Biology, Astronomy, Spectroscopy, RAMAN Spectroscopy, Semiconductor Physics, Plasma Physics and X-Ray Physics.

|
For the HiRes IV cameras we have appealed to sophisticated sampling and
amplification techniques as well as to a 16-bit A/D Converter, to be fully
exploited in their dynamics. Furthermore, the Double Stage Peltier cooling
system allows to perform DT= -50 oC.
All cameras
have been equipped with integrated peripherals, such as parallel ports and
timers, allowing one to carry out a complete automation of one's
experiment.
Herewith below the specs of the cameras as well as the mostly used sensors.
However: feel free to ask for any other KODAK or E2V technologies sensor not included in the following tables.

The HiRes IV Plus is the upgraded model of HiRes IV.
It is equipped of three integrated peripherals:
1) two 32-bit generators able to yield impulses starting from 100 ns with internal time base, or from 20 ns with external time base;
2) a 32-bit time delay with a 100 ns step with an internal time base or 20 ns with external time base;
By means of these three devices, you can run an MCP, a LASER or other external devices, as well as synchronize them to the image acquisition.
Moreover, it performs a better readout speed of HiRes IV, up to 1 Mpixel/second, and higher DT below ambient temperature, due to two different system cooling:
1) Double Stage Peltier with an air exchanger, performing DT= -60 oC;
2) Double Stage Peltier with a liquid exchanger (a glycol solution), directly connected to the freezer box, placed within the controller, performing DT= -80 oC. The sensor cell is vacuum tight and contains a gas (Nitrogen), so that the customer doesn't need to keep a steady maintenance. |

This series of cameras aims to making the most of readout speed of Kodak KAF sensors: the goal to reach is the best possible performance by exploiting its high sensitivity in the shortest possible image downloading time. Every component is integrated in the aluminium head: CCD, electromechanical shutter, Single stage Peltier cooling system, electronics. An external motorized filter wheel is available, as optional. The camera is connected to the PC by means of a FDL Interface card (alternatively, a fiber optic connection can be made).
Thanks to its cooling method, 12-bit (multirange) A/D converter and remarkable speed during image acquisition, iCAM is the ideal solution to shoot extremely weaks events, subject to quick changes.
